What PDA?

Hi, I have a Garmin GPS111plus that I've been using for the last couple of years, which is great but for the lack of space for downloading maps from the PC. I thought it would be possable to link this with a PDA to get more memory and a colour screen. I have since found this site to know its possable.
What I would like is to run on a ordanance survey type mapping software like Memory Map as I do not require directional prompts, but also mapping in simular style for France? What sort of PDA is best I've been looking at the HP? How much of Memory Map can be held in the memory of a PDA approx? Would I be better off just ditching the Garmin? If I use a memory card will this help?
