|
|
Advice Please?
I have just bought a 1gb ATP sd card, formatted FAT32, transferred data (tomtom maps etc) from my Lexar 256mb 32x SD card (super quick!)..
Used it today 1st time locks up after about 5 minutes navigating, have to close down tomtom, eject the card, restarted tomtom, then ok for 5 minutes , lock up again. The Lexar card has been no problem at all.
I guess from reading previous threads the ATP card is no good, I was wondering if experimenting with format settings i.e. FAT16etc could stop the ATP card from making tomtom lock up.
Any advice would be appreciated.
Cheers

Hello Nick,
I have just had a look at all 7 SD cards that I use for Digi Cams, PDA's and Mp3 player, and they are all formatted in plain old FAT, that could be your problem.
Without tempting fate, I have never had a problem with any of them, all Lexar.
Hope your card reader can restore to FAT, some can't or will not give you that option from the drop down menu. |

Cheers
I will format card as FAT tonight and give it another go tomorrow.
TRANFERING DATA:- (procedure I used)
I am inserted the original SD card in the card reader on my pc, then copied files to a backup folder. I then copied files from backup folder onto the new ATP card. Could this be a problem as I am not using active sync to do this??

Your transfer method sounds perfectly fine to me. That's the way I did it (and it's way faster than going through the synch. application)

Hello Nick
When you have copied the files to your HD folder, go to the folder and files, RIGHT Click on each one (hope there's not many), and make sure that they have NO Attributes set at all, then after re-formatting your card, just copy the files and paste them to the card. |

Reformated card FAT, same problem this morning.
I guess the ATP 1gb SD card is not up to the job. I will go back to using my trustee Lexar 256mb 32x SD card.
Cheers for all the help _________________ Nick
