Hi ,

I am relatively new to gps and in particular this forum but would not hesitate to recommend it to anybody thinking about taking the plunge. I have a Xsara Picasso which has a U.V reflecting windscreen. After reading many posts in the forums about people having various problems with this type of glass fitted i decided to throw caution to the wind and have a go. The pda i bought was the Ipaq Rx3715. Personally i think it is a cracking peice of kit for the money especially if the sole role in life is not just gps , It has a wide range of functions such as bluetooth , Wi-fi , 1.2 megapixel camera along with cradle , good software and a leather pouch. The gps kit i bought is the Tom Tom Navigator 3 Bluetooth version along with the Tom Tom Car Holder. The Tom Tom software installation was stress free as was the blue tooth setup (Just remember to set the ports right and you cant really go wrong). Once i had managed to set up the software and the bluetooth connection i was able to pick up 6 satelites in my living room with curtains closed and reciever on my sofa arm which i thought was a bit of a result. The next step was putting the kit into my car . The beauty of the bluetooth reciever is the fact that you can move it around the vehicle without having to worry too much about wires. I found that the optimal position for the reciever was just on top of the dashboard next to the small triangular window at the driver side. The car holder also fitted just nicely here enabling easy access and easy viewing for the driver. I get an average sighting of 9 satelites at any given time which means that the system is very accurate . The only problem i now have is power , It is my intention to wire a cigar lighter socket to the small fusebox lid just to the left of the drivers right leg. This means when i sell the car i will be able to simply buy a new fuse box lid rather that ruin the dashboard. I hope this post helps other beginners make up thier mind or aid them in anyway like the many other posts by others have helped me . The only thing i would recommend which i haven't done yet is buy a bigger memory card and get saving up for fuel for them many days out in the car.
