Adapter to connect a PS2 GPS to a PC

I recently bought a used IPAQ with a GPS reciever - the recieve is a LeadTech reciever but I am not sure who marketed the device (it is square and light blue or purple in color). It connect to the IPAQ through a sync cable which can plug into a cigarette lighter to provide power, the connection to the sync cable is a PS2 connection. I would like to be able to use the GPS with my notebook PC as well but, I do not have a PS2 port. I have a USB to PS2 adapter but, I cannot connect to the GPS with it connected to either the keyboard or mouse port on the adapter. Do I need to modify the adapter to allow the GPS to communicate? What am I missing?

We do not have any cable for any of the "mouse GPS", nor do we know the technical information.

You should be able to get the appropriate cable from the original manufacturer or their dealers.
