I would imagine that wav file is for SPECS cameras which have 2 cameras a set distance apart and measure your average speed between the 2. Thats what I think a speed zone is.

As far as I know, there are no POIs that detail where every 20, 30, 40, 50, 60, and 70 mph speed limit starts and stops.

Since January 2005, you have had the option of using the PocketGPSWorld camera database that shows the known speed limit of the camera. Each sub database is “zoned” i.e. it contains just cameras of one speed limit in it.

SPECS are also known as sectional cameras, i.e. you drive past one and your car is photographed (digitally) and your number plate is registered as being active in that section. You drive past the next SPECS camera and the process is repeated, if the time you take to dive that “section” is less than it should be then you have broken the average speed. Your average speed is the distance between the two SPECS cameras divided by the time it took you to drive there.

Regards,

Not only would a POI for speed limits be huge, and a maintenance nightmare, but it would require a POI system that understands the direction of travel.

It would be possible to enhance the speed warning feature of GPSAssist to change limits automatically at database points (GPSAssist does know the direction of travel), but I believe Jo, the developer, feels that the database would be unfeasible.
