|
|
Hi,
I just purchased this TomTom PDA.
http://www.pocketgpsworld.com/tomtom-navigator-hp-edition.php
Now I inserted the little tomtom card into the PDA and installed the software and connect the PDA to the holder thing along with the GPS Receiver but it just says "No Device Found" and I noticeed today that the LED is not turned on on my GPS Receiever. Could it be broken or do you have to install a driver or something?
Please help as I so want to play with my new toy

what receiver is that - the serial one? Have you specified "TomTom Serial GPS" in the GPS setup?
The receiver should be blinking red without a fix and blinking green with fix. _________________ Lutz

I use this receiver in the picture. Its the one than came in the bundle.

Thing thing is my GPS Receiver doesn't even light up the LED. Its not red or green but off completely. I have select the correct PDA in the GPS configuration in TomTom but there is a problem between my PDA and the receiever. The TomTom softrware just says "cannot find device" - So I assume it cant talk to the receiver.
Am I meant to install the receivver in any way or should it work out of the box? |

you need to plug the car kit into the cigarette lighter socket and make sure the ingnition is at the radio setting as unless there is wer to the car kit the receiver should work as its a first fix give 20-30 minutes to get a fix but dont drive while its getting this first fix other wise it will take like forever maaan ! _________________ currently using aponia truck navigation on windows phone. So does this kit not work unless its on External Power?
Also while its getting its fix should there be any LED's lit up on the GPS receiver? Because on mine there is none and the tomtom software just says in the corner cannot find device which I assume means the actual GPS receiver not the satelites. |

No, the receiver requires a 12v power source at all times to operate. I don't recall whether the receiver LEd's indicate power or fix. _________________ Darren Griffin |
