Totally confused please help... Navman and ipaq

Totally confused please help !!! Sad

I may have been misled into purchasing an incompatible GPS system. I purchased a Navman bluetooth GPS4410 SmartST V2.
It was my intention to use this with either an Ipaq hx2750 or a H4700 (pick up Monday if I could finally make up my mind on which one).
My questions are simply.

1,Can I use the 4410 with these Ipaq’s?

2, If not compatible. Is it the software or the GPS that’s the problem? And if it’s the GPS could I purchase an alternative to run the Navman software?

3, What are my alternatives? I’m just looking for a good quality and reliable navigation system that will work with the 2750 or the 4700

4, What is the likely hood of Navman fixing the incompatibility problem (should it exist)?

Both of those iPAQs are Bluetooth units, so there shouldn't be any problems. However, there have been problems reported where HP have issued ROM updates which appear to break the BT connection.

I understand that Navman are working in conjunction with HP, as are the other BT receiver manufacturers, I expect.

The BT GPS is a standard but for some reason Navman chose to use an alphanumeric passphrase (NAVMAN) rather than the more typical numeric e.g. 0000.

This may be the problem here or it may be a software issue with SmartST and the newer iPAQ's. They don't explain where the problem lies. I'd advise you give them a call, they have a UK office in Crawley and are very helpful. They should be able to advise as to where the problem lies and if a fix is in the pipeline.

The 4700 is listed as not currently compatible and the 2750 is not listed at all on the current Compatibility Table

Contacting Support should clarify the situation.

Thanks Guy’s for the info. Unfortunately I’ve missed Navman but I will try Saturday if not Monday. I am still confused with the compatibilities issue as how can they not be all compatible if the minimum processor speeds are met and the operating system is the same? I don’t want to open the software seals and register a product if it’s not going to work.
Is this compatibility issue a problem I am constantly going to be faced with using a Microsoft based PDA? Would a Palm based unit be any better?
Anyone using an Hx4700 or Hx2750 with GPS? If so what are you using? Does Tomtom suffer the same issues?
