What is the max number of POI's that TomTom can handle?
Yes I know there is a limit in the maximum number of overlays (31 or 63), but I am talking about the maximum in total POI's. If there is any limit...?
The reason for my question is to make a base with aprox 60.000 POI's within 12 overlayfiles. _________________ Gunnar Nystul, Forum Admin, TomTom Forum Norway and Nystul Navigasjon |

From memory, there's no hard limit in the software, but performance becomes an issue. The larger the POI files, the more troublesome they become.
Maybe someone has some more objective information.

I've had a message saying too many POI before on Start-up, you can push through this and TTN3 will continue, but will exclude some POI files.
In addition to this, I think the figure is 100 (inl TTN3's own POI files). _________________ iPhone5, TomTom, Google maps, Navfree, Viewranger and Apple Maps (ekk) |

That error is about "too many categories" or ov2-files ! _________________ Gunnar Nystul, Forum Admin, TomTom Forum Norway and Nystul Navigasjon |

As I said, if you use MakeOV2 there is no limit (ok, apart from disk space). You can have all your POI (of the same category) in one file and it will still be reasonably fast.
This is because the MakeOV2 process also creates the type 1 records (called skipper records) that basically sort the POIs into a B+ Tree . _________________ Lutz
