i have lost the SD card that came with the kit
after installing it from the back up cd will i have to reactivate it via the tomtom web site???

There's plenty of software for Pocket PCs - though be aware that your rz1710 has rather limited memory. Have a look at Handango for an idea of the wealth of software available. Many have trial versions.
