Hello,
I have just been updating GPS Assist and installing the UKPostcode programme.
They seemed to install properly. UKPostcodes works ok; however when I try to start GPS Assist I am getting up an Internet Explorer window stating 'The application that you have launched requires Microsoft eMbedded Visual Basic Runtime to be installed.
There is then an internet link, which does not work, to download the file and a suggestion to look in the Pocket PC help files for other ways to download this file. Howeverthere does not seem to be an entry to provide this.
I have tried a soft re-boot but still the message appears.
So can some please tell me where I get this file from and into which directory/folder etc. that I should then load it.
Thanks, in advance, for your help. |

Thanks for that link. I see that it is a cab file containing 38 files.
Should I copy this to the main windows directory and then decompress it?
Otherwise where should it go please? |

Copy the CAB file as is (do NOT decompress) to a folder on the PocketPC (for example \Temp) and then run it from Pocket File Explorer. _________________ Lutz

I have now cured the problem. It turned out to be a faulty shortcut entry in the start-up menu. Once this was re-installed everything worked just fine. It seemed to have nothing to do with installing VB as such.
This does bring into question the validity of the error messages that get thrown up from timt to time.
Thanks for your help. |
