Why would you want to do a detour in planning mode? These buttons are active in Guidance mode.
If you want to influence the route during planning, use the itinerary function _________________ Lutz

Thats exactly what I mean - using the itenary function in planning mode I am unable to use the detour or return to original route buttons - they only work whilst in guidance mode on the itenary screen |

a detour is something you need to do when you hit an obstacle. What you want to do is an itinerary, not a detour. _________________ Lutz

This is kind of hard to explain !!
When I am planning a route on the pocket PC I am in planning mode and I enter my stops, I then get CoPilot to calculate the route and I look at the itenary to see what roads I am going to be sent on.
CoPilot sometimes sends me on a road I don't want to take but I have no way of changing this in planning mode as the buttons are greyed out (The Road with a No entry sign is the best way of describing this button) |

That's how the software is designed. If you want to change the route use an itinerary. For detours you need to be moving.
Call it a bug if you like, but this is how it works. _________________ Lutz
