Advice required. I am going to but a GPS receiver for my HP5550.
I have a jacket with CF slot and extra battery. The 5550 also has Bluetooth. I am aware of the effect on battery of the CF GPS cards. I think I can probably get through a day with the 2 batteries and a battery extender. I don't intend to use the GPS in car - it is going to be used for GIS fieldwork under foliage - walking about. Therefore the MOST important feture to me is receiver sensitivity - this is more important than convenience features. From what I have read I think XTRAC is important and I am considering the SysOnChip GPS CF Plus II with XTrac II which costs about £100. I had assumed that Compact Flash cards would perform better than Bluetooth but I have no proof of that and this was really based on the fact that CF is more established technology than bluetooth.
So the question is - is there any difference in performance between CF XTRAC devices and Bluetooth Xtrac devices in the same price range ?

no, absolutely no performance difference.

The BT receiver has the advantage that it can be positioned better (and independent of your PDA operation). If you use the CF receiver then the Pocket PC needs to be always on.

Thanks for the advise - in the end, given that I need Xtrac I went for the fortuna Clip-on.

Thanks
