Hi folks,

I really need your help. I just bought a GPS 6010 to use on my Toshiba e570 with TomTom 3. I cannot get it to work no matter what I do. In the GPS settings under the GPS tab I have selected Rikaline GPS-6010 and Serial Cable on COM1:

When I have it all connected in my car, the light on the receiver flashes but I never get any reception and have yet to find even one satalite!

The serial number of the unit is 60153960

Any ideas where I may be going wrong.

Any help would be very much appreciated.

Thanks

Darryl

yes its a serial cable that goes into the same slot that my sync cradle does.

I bought the receiver from PDA Mods and it came with the lead for the PDA. I checked the part number and it is the correct lead.

Any ideas?

Is your sync cradle serial or USB? Having the same connector doesn't mean much.

Can you take the 6010 to that person to try it out? Maybe they used a USB > Serial converter cable.

Unfortunately he got rid of his to get an xda a while a go.

I have emailed Rikaline and they told me to disable my IR port and select comm 1 on the tomtom settings. I have selected comm 1 but I dont know how to disable my IR.

Thanks

The answer you've got sounds like the right answer for an XDA, not a Toshiba. If you want to try it, look in Start Menu, Settings, Connections tab, Beam.

As Lutz says, you need to make sure your Toshiba (and/or your cable) has all the necessary hardware and drivers in place. Quite a few Toshiba Pocket PCs have a USB host port rather than a serial port; for those devices you need to have a USB / serial adapter with the necessary drivers on the Pocket PC.
