Hi,
Could anyone tell me, or point to some information that clarifies if the database can be 'plugged' into Tom Tom Nav 3 without using POI notification software such as checkPOInt. If so how? I can easoly create my own POI okay via the TT software, but simply copying the files into the map folder doesn't work.
Furthermore - if this can be done, where will the 'POI' be shown (when selected within the S/W). I.E 'Map' view, 'Navigator', or both?
I'm a beginner as you can probably tell!
Many Thanks

Yes you can use our database or create your own without choosing to receive alerts from 3rd party software such as CheckPOInt.
Simply copy the database .ov2 and .bmp files into the map folder. To create your own POI database simply record a new POI within TomTom and choose to add it to a <new> database, you can then enter the name you wish to use and the database will be created.
Assuming you have 'enabled' a POI database it will be visible in both Navigator and Map views _________________ Darren Griffin |

Many thanks for your reply.
As I mentioned previously - I have managed to create my own POI database (which then appears in the 'map' folder as '.bmp' and '.ov2' files). This database then becomes available on the 'POI' tag of the properties for selection. Once selected the new 'poi(s)' appear on the map view. This is all as you suggested.
However, I have also previously copied the various 'speed camera databases' (for Gatso, mobile etc) into the (same) 'map' folder but these are then NOT available on the 'POI' tag of the 'properties' section. Hence I can't select them etc... Where am I going wrong!??
P.S. I have copied both the '.bmp' and '.ov2' file for each 'database' into the 'map' folder.
Thanks in anticipation.
