Hi

I have bought a Fortuna GPSmartBT and a sync cable. Nice piece of kit, locks and holds the satelites quite quickly with a decent signal strength. However ( Wink ) a few issues. Using the 2.26 firmware, you can't set the baud rate of the com port to 4800 so that you can use the device with MS Autoroute, but on 2.24 you can.

Most importantly I can't get the unit to work with my XDAII and TomTom3 Sad I've tried all sorts of setting but with no luck. Does anyone have any hints ? What setting should I be using ?

I had it working fine with my HP2210 - Either COM5 or COM8 (can't remember which) and it was fine.

Thanks, but what other settings did you use ? In the version of TomTom I have (v3) there's two drop down boxes - the first is a list of device, which the GPSmartBT is not listed in, the second is the com ports. So do I choose NMEA 0183v2 Bluethooth and COM5 (8 is not listed) ? Or one of the other device options ? Do I have to bond the devices first ?

I'm so confused ! 8O

Bond the devices first and then choose the NMEA 0183v2 Bluetooth on Com5. The speed is either 4800 or 38400, I can't remember which - I haven't used it with my PDA for about a year.

Thanks nej. Just what I've been doing, so I'm not as mad as I thought !!! Must be something wrong with the BT part of the devices Sad Oh well, back to the supplier it goes.
