MemoryMap is a tad more intuitive (and less feature loaden). It uses proprietary maps, whereas in Fugawi and Ozi you can calibrate your own maps. _________________ Lutz

I would really need to use 1:250.000 maps, Fugawi maps seem to be the only ones that cover all of the U.K in this detail. |

Anquet has the full GB in 1:250.000 OS scale. This comes on each CD no matter which region/scale you buy.
I assume you do mean 1:250.000 and not 1:25.000 ? _________________ Ian.

Also need too use O/S co-ordinates.
Just had a look at Anquet site, the price of these maps is a bit steep compared to Fugawi etc. |

Hi again.
As far as I am aware, Fugawi only have OS maps at 1:50,000 Landranger scale and not 1:25,000 Explorer.
Your options are probably going to be Memory-Map or Anquet. _________________ Ian.

Yes your right there, but Anquet want £100 just for one region in 1:25.000
and memorymaps coverage in this scale is limited to national parks.
I think for the moment i'll have to use 1:50,000 scale maps, which one of your recommedations has the most up to date software? |

Based on your first post...
Which of the topographical map programs(memorymap/fugawi etc) would be easiest for a beginner to use?
I would say Anquet is the easiest to use.
However, Memory-Map has many more features on the PPC and therefore can be more complicated to use until you get used to it.
Memory-Map offers full GB at 1:25.000 scale also in 2,500 sq/km sections, but there is no price given.
I chose Anquet as they were the cheapest and the functionality is adequate for my needs although having used them for many months, there are some features that I would like to see added which Memory-Map already has. As always - you get what you pay for.
The best suggestion would be to look at what each product offers and see which best suits your requirements. _________________ Ian.

I neglected to mention that the spftware needs to work with Palm OS. |

Yes, according to the Anquet web site:
Quote: | Will Anquet PPC run on my Palm device?
We took quite a while deciding to support the Pocket PC device initially and not the Palm device. Both machines have their merits, but we felt we had more users showing interest in the Pocket PC than Palm. We may well do a Palm version, but at the current time we have no fixed plans for a timescale on this development work. |

Well it looks like Memory-Map by default.
It's good software so you won't be disappointed I'm sure. _________________ Ian.
