I have been struggling to use Mapsonic for a few weeks now (Bought Palm Zire 31 GPS bundle), and today the Mapstore PC program stopped working.
When I try to start MapStore I get an error message 'an important file is missing, please reinstall the application'
I tried to re-install this and found the installation hangs after the 2nd hotsync.
When I first got this I found I had hotsync errors, and emailed ViaMicheling who replied to say I could not hotsync to multiple PCs, so as the hotsync doesn't actually transfer ANY POIs or other Mapsonic info, I set the hotsync settings to 'do nothing' for Mapsonic.
I have realised from messing about, that this was why MapStore would not operate, and having changed the hotsync setting for Mapsonic to 'synchonise files', and ran a hotsync MapStore works once again.
It seems that this is some kind of copy protection so you cannot use MapStore on a PC unless you have hotsync'd to a Mapsonic Palm within a couple of weeks !!
This is quite annoying anyway, but the fact the error message is so misleading makes this even more tedious.
I am not sure where this leaves me with 2 PCs, as ViaMichelin say you cannot hotsync to multiple PCs (although apart from the hotsync errors which were annoying, but don't seem to indicate anything I don't see why this won't work), but if you don't enable mapsonic hotsync then mapstore won't run either ???
I have also complained to PalmOne about the faults with this bundle, and complete lack of support and had a response that I should email their escalations team, which I did on 30th Nov and I have not heard anything back !!
