|

Hello all.
I posed this question on another forum and no-one could help, but a kind soul gave me a link to this site. So here goes...
I recently bought a Morpheus Geodesy Plus, second hand off eBay for a very reasonable price.
I have an Alfa GTV 2.0 Lusso and was planning to mount it sideways-on, down the left hand side of the centre console, next to the passengers right knee.
I thought this would be discrete and not spoil beauty of the dashboard by mounting it right under the windscreen.
Unfortunatley these things need to be mounted under the windscreen in order to lock on to the satellite: unless you install a small re-radiating antenna on the dash, then you can mount the unit anywhere within a metre or so.
The official Geodesy ones are about £50 on eBay and £60 new. But I've seen a cheaper Road Angel one for about £20. I don't fancy paying just short of what I paid for the main unit just for a small antenna.
Since these 'detectors' all use the same satellites and hence the same frequencies I assume that a Road Angel one will be compatible with my Geodesy.
Am I right? |

I would have though any reradiating GPS antenna should work. But were have you seen the RA one for £20 I can only find £60 - £70 one's? |

There are several different plugs used to connect external GPS antennas. Some devices are designed to work with an external active antennas and put power on the antenna connection (which means that you have to have an antenna that's expecting the voltage on your antenna connector), whereas others may not support active antennas and don't offer power (in which case an antenna that requires power probably won't work).
In the end, if the antenna is aimed at a similar device, and the connector is physically compatible, it will probably work, but there is no guarantee.
