I have been considering GPS for some time now, initially as a new 'gadget', but after reading the forums and gleaning info from various sources I think I have found a new interest. However, I think I am presently suffering from information overload and hence this request for advice.

My requirements:

Cost preferably no more than £400
In Car / Walking - 75% / 25%
Able to install postcodes & speed cameras
The ability to install various mapping software etc for experimentation.
I don't want to go the Bluetooth route.
I don't want more than a single item.

My initial consideration was the Mio / Co-pilot package
The price was right but couldn't decide between Co-pilot and Tom Tom.
I then looked at the Navman Pin but was put off by SmartSt
TT Go was also considered but after reading posts it became apparant that it wasn't suitable.
Then today I came across the Garmin Quest. At first it seemed to fit the bill. I don't have a PDA and don't really need one but it seems that the Quest might be limited in what I can do with it in terms of 'experimentation', for want of a better word.

I am more-or-less decided on the Mio/Co-pilot package unless someone can recommend a suitable alternative.

Thanks in advance for any advice and suggestions.

Ken

I settled for the Mitac 168 + CoPilot and it works fine. Also got Memory Map loaded so have London A-Z and OS maps on the SD card.

There seems to be a small bug with CoPilot in that it fails to announce GTASOs on any return journey, but the directional instructions are OK.

Thanks for the info.

The Lidl deal would appear ideal in my situation unfortunately it's only available from stores in the Midlands, Norfolk and Lincolnshire, London and the South East / South West of England (except Gloucestershire and Hereford). I live in S Wales so it looks like I'm out of luck.

there was a similar one for sale in aldis a couple of weeks ago, perhaps you could pop along to your local aldis and ask,i know that there are none left in llantrisant. Sad i had to return my medion as it had a faulty battery.I then bought a bundle off superetrader,an ipaq 2210 with ttn3 and tt car kit for under £400 (wired) and i am very pleased with it so far.
