Praise where due

After almost 12 months service (Dec03) my CRUXII failed out of the blue. The green light went out and wouldn't come on again.
FYI the unit has almost exclusively only been used whilst plugged into a car charger. The only unusual factor when the green light failed was that the unit felt warmer than usual.
I purchased this from Handnav, and on contacting them was disappointed with their response. I was told, (a) they no longer dealt with Emtac, (b) before they would do anything I would have to discharge the battery for two days, and then recharge it. (c) If I did return it to them they would have to return it to Taiwan, which would take 2-3 weeks.

I'm sure I'm not alone in having become used to GPS, being upset at the possibility not having it for 2-3 days, never mind 2-3 weeks. Having read in this Forum about the good service from Itochu UK (Emtac importers), I contacted them directly.

Their service was superb!

Although it transpired that Handav were not an authorized Emtac dealer, I was fortunately aware of which main dealer had supplied the CRUXII. Once they were satisfied that it was UK stock, they immediatly offered to exchange it for a brand new one. Not only that, but since I was due to pass within a few miles of their office the next day, I was able to call in and swap the units over there and then. Total time without GPS about 36 hours!

They also said that I purchased it from one of their two biggest dealers, tjose dealers were authorised to replace faulty units by return. Truly it appears that Itochu take customer service for Ematac very seriously.
