Can anyone point me to a previous post explaining how to install TomTom on the memory card (SD card). I have a spare 128MB card and thought it would be handy incase my pocket pc decides to reset to factory default like it did once before.

Is this possible and is 128MB big enough.

Great thanks. So, in theory is it possible to have TTN3 installed in the normal way and a "backup" installed on the SD card?

That's possible, too (although it is overkill, and reduces available RAM)

Many thanks for a nice article Lutz.
In 'the olden days' I installed earlier versions of TTN to a storage card straight fron the initial installation, using the active sync option to install in another location to the default. I had assumed that the newer versions, with activation etc. would object to this, and put a registry entry, hidden somewhere,so that you could not just copy the programme once it was installed. This seems a fairly basic omission from an 'anti-pirating' point of view, or have I missed something?

If I read your article correctly, I would copy the programme, and appropriate voice files, to each storage card with a map on, and it would run ok from there, in any Pocket PC I happened to put the card in. This is fine, and even answers the question posed elsewhere about changing voice files at will, but seems to run holes through the anti-pirate issues.
I, personally would merely install the programme/voice files on the storage cards which already have legal maps, on the only Pocket PC that I own, so I presume this is OK, but would be glad of your confirmation that I have read things properly.
regards
Geoff

It's not that easy.

First of all - the license in the axs file is linked to the PDA's serial number. So even though you would have a complete setup on the storage card you still couldn't use it in another PDA

Secondly - there is some work involved to get the program to run after a hard reset - you need to run both the GPS applet and the program once to recreate the registry entries, and then change them according to the article.
