|
|
Hi
I am currently using TT3 on my PPC with a wired Holux GPS but am looking at upgrading to TTM with its BT receiver. At the moment my Holux turns off with my ignition, what do other people do with their BT units? Do you leave them on until the battery dies, do they power off automatically or do you manually turn them off? Thanks for your thoughts. |

The TomTom BT GPS has one of these software on/off switches that make installation in the car quite difficult unless you keep them powered permanently.
Recently a forum member provided a link to a little device that can monitor the car battery voltage and cut off the BT GPS' power supply when the battery runs low. I think that's the best setup you can get out of this crappy receiver. Oops, meant to say "suboptimal". _________________ Lutz

OK thanks. Can anyone answer the following Q's:
Can you use TT Maps of Western Europe for PPC on TTM for Smartphone?
Is the BT GPS unit good enough to not be placed on the dashboard (i.e. in the glove box or away from peering eyes?)
Thanks |

That depends on the structure of the dashboard. If it is mostly plastic and/or leather then you have a good chance. If it's mostly metal then rather not. Expect much longer cold and warm starts though - you may have to take it out to get a fix, and then you can put it back in. _________________ Lutz

Lutz, do you mean, that my TomTom 3PDA maps, will fit to TomTom Mobile MMC Card directly? |
