my boss has the Tom Tom Go box that sists on his dashboard and when he appproaches a speed camera he receives an audible warning that there is a camera ahead.

I have bought an HP Ipac and Tom Tom 3 software and I do not get the audible warning when approaching a camera. Is there a way I can make the POI's audible? Confused

Yes, but you need add-on software like CheckPOInt or similiar. There's no built-in proximity warner in TTN3

Install software such as CheckPOInt or GPSAssist.

If you're considering CheckPOInt, I recommend version 2.0.2 for use with the Pocket GPS World database - it's free in our download area. Alternatively, you can get version 3 (which I believe to be less suitable for use with the Pocket GPS World database) free of charge from the CheckPOInt site.

My favourite add-on program is GPSAssist, which is not free but is not much money either. Amongst other things, this allows you to download updated POI files from Pocket GPS World using a program on your Pocket PC.

Dont forget POIWarner!

I use this and have been very happy with it.

Out of curiosity what are peoples opinions on which is the better speed camera utility?

What are the differences between CheckPOInt 2.0.2 and 3 which make the former more suitable for use with the PocketGPS database?

CheckPOInt 3 can't record POIs in a form that suitable to submit to the Pocket GPS World database. If you don't set up synchronisation with POIplace, it will put recorded POIs in a .ov2 file - but without the textual comments that version 2.0.2 puts there that record the camera type and speed.

If you set up synchronisation with POIplace, you can't record POIs in a .ov2 file at all - and I've not yet found a way to remove synchronisation other than by hard resetting the Pocket PC. I can't figure out where the details for synchronisation are stored - it's not in the registry.
