can't locate satellites

Hi, just bought a Garmin Quest. When I power on the unit it displays "Locating Satellites" and it never locks on. The map shows Taipei, Taiwan, presumably where the unit was manufactured and presumably the problem. I've tried reorienting the map to Boston, MA where I am, but no change.

According to the manual "If no or too few satellites are received for several minutes, a Poor Satellite Reception message appears. One option is New Location, useful if you've relocated greater than 500 miles from where the Quest was last used. In such instances the Quest may be looking for the wrong group of satellites." Sounds good to me, but no such message ever appears and I can't find anything in the manual that indicates how to set my location.

Any help appreciated as I am tearing my f*ing hair out.

OK, I switched to WAAS mode and life got better.
