Overall, excellent ! I barely had to look at the manual, very easy and intuitive to set up and this included loading in the Safety Camera POIs before first use. The mount is great, better than I was expecting - in my Saab 9-3 I have it on the windscreen at a height where the base is just above the dash. One niggle: when using the power cable the plug is quite long and the lighter socker is close to the gearstick - I crush a finger going in to 1st gear Sad It will have to be battery only or perhaps I'll get a power splitter (so I can run the IPOD too) which might have a slightly shorter plug.

I found a couple of glitches in the map already - one local POI is 2k out (!) and a town centre road that has been pedestrianised for years shows as a valid route - I have reported both via the Tom Tom website. The re-routing works quickly to recover from this though. Overall - very impressed. Easy, cheap and recommended.

timmy
yes the maps are not good i have had loads of problems....i dont understand how they can be as bad as what they are.....will wait and see what tomtom do as they must be getting alot of emails about them.....
let us know how you find the routing as i have found my one takes me all round the houses to get to my destination....try using it for a destination you know the route to then it will give you an idea of how it routes you
Cheers
Rob

I'm interested in this as I've got a 9-3 (2003 model Vector).

Is the TTG power cable long enough to (say) plug into the 12V socket in the arm rest thing between the driver & passenger seats?

Glenn.

Not sure about that - mine's a '99 and no centre armrest socket. Is the socket at the front or back of the armrest? I'll try and gauge it for you in the morning.

I got used to the closeness of the gearstick by the way and no longer trap my finger ;-)

That would be great! There's an armrest/storage box between the seats, starting behind the handbrake. The top of it lifts up to reveal a handy cubby hole for storing mobile phone chargers etc. There's a 12V socket in there.

Ideally I'd like to plug the TT in to that, then run the cable along the side of the footwell and up the dash, but I don't think the cable'd be long enough for that. If you could let me know roughly how long the cabe is, that'd be great.

I wonder - is the TT end of the cable a standard plug? Maybe it'd be possible to buy some sort of extension.

Glenn.

It's a standard 12v cigarette lighte socket, Halfords or other motor accessory outlet stock extension cables that will allow you to install as you wish.

As for the 9-3 - I have the cubby-hole but no socket - I think you should just be about able to snake it to the cubbyhole without an extension
