CF GPS and Windows CE 2.11?

Is there need for a CompactFlash GPS to specifically support Windows CE 2.11 to be used on such a machine, or is it enough for a "GPS aware" software to run on the device? If there's need for a special driver, is there a list of CE 2.11 compatible devices?

There are two types of CF GPS receivers - one type that emulates a standard COM port and doesn't need additional drivers, the other is "dumb" and requires drivers (in your case WinCE 2.11).

Having said that it's highly unlikely that either will work in such an archaic device.

Thanks! Is there any way to tell them apart? Hard to tell from the reviews (even in the Fortuna Pocket Track review, where you mention CE 2.11 specifically, it's just by saying that the device will fit the slot).

By the second comment, do you mean that the in your opinion even the COM emulating ones are unlikely to be compatible?
