I have a problem getting my pc to connect to my pda. It was never very good and always difficult to get them to speak to each other but now its impossible. I`ve tried upgrading from 3.5 to 3.7 ActiveSync but that didn`t work so i`ve gone back to 3.5. Originally i was connecting thru a hub but now direct from the pc but still nothing. I must be doing something wrong but what !
I`m running XP Pro and i havn`t installed SP2
Anyone got any ideas ?

Hi
I have XP SP2 installed and ActiveSync 3.7.1

Have you checked your connection settings?
Do you get the status icon in the Taskbar?

It could be your physical connection at the PDA end, If you are using the cradle try connecting with the spare adaptor or vice-versa just to prove/disprove it is working OK.

I thought you may have a seperate adapter as the iPAQ comes with one.

When I don't have the PDA in the cradle the Connection Settings shows:
Status: COM port is available
and the Taskbar icon is greyed out

As soon as I plug the PDA into the cradle this changes to:
Status: Connected
and the taskbar icon is green.

I was thinking the cradle connection could be faulty. Can you prove it is OK by any other means?

Another point is did you install ActiveSync while the PDA was docked and connected?

I will have to get another cable to test the connection, everything is showing ok but it won`t recognise it, when i take the pda out of the cradle and replace it i get bleeps and when i try a manual connection with ActiveSync it says can`t connect.

Did you install activeSync with the cradle plugged in?

If you did, unplug it then uninstall and re-install ActiveSync then plug the cradle in and try to connect with your PDA.
