|
|
Everything tells me I can do it but the download wizard keeps asking me to do a new trip. Help tells me I can do it but not how. I have created a trip on my PC, saved it. How do I get it to my PD? Why on earth don't they just have a simple single button to download SAVED trips?
Help.............................. |

As I understand the system, you can't just create a trip on the PC and then download any that you saved ... you actually have to tell it that you want to create a trip for the PPC and then go thru the creation process again as part of the download process .. along with any maps that you need to send to the PPC (and favorites) if you desire. I found this to be a real shortfall too .... you should be able to just transfer any trips that you have created and saved.
Guess that needs to be added to the wish list if it's not already there. |

oddly enough I was playing around with the download wizard and I selected "download" at the bottom of the selection page and it showed me the Map data for RegionUK and blow me down, on the right hand window the trip I had saved. OK I thought it will download the whole UK and my trip. But I deleted the RegionUk (89mb) from the download wizard and just left the trip. It only took a few seconds so I presume it only did the trip?
Its on my PDA and works so have I discovered a shortcut that isn't described in the help. If it is then TELL THE WORLD...... |

..oh, the trip was in the RH window titled "Data included in this download". I think thats where it stayed so I guess I DID download the trip only. |

I manually copy the routes using windows explorer.
The saved routes are on your pc's hard drive at:
C:\Copilot\EU\Save\ the file you need has the suffix .trp
copy this file onto your pda's drive via activesync to the following location
\Storage Card\COPILOT\SAVE
I have used this method a number of times now. Much better than using the built in download tool. _________________ Please follow me on twitter @mdyson1968 |

Don't forget to Soft Reset the PPC before using a newly copied trip as CP is likely to freeze.
Another point worth mentioning is that CP5 stores every trip you make as a track file. These can be found on the \Storage Card\My Documents\GPSTracks
Depending on the trip they can be 500Kb or more in size, using up space on you storage card.
If you move them to the Desktop PC into C:\Program Files\CoPilot\
PocketPC5\GPStracks. The next time you run CP5 on the PC these track files will be uploaded to ALK. Where they say they are looked at to determine any routing and map errors for improving future releases.
Once the files have been up loaded they are moved and retained in GPStrack\Submitted Tracks on the PC. _________________ Graham.

Here's an interesting item .... I tried the suggestion about copying trips that you create on the desktop application over to the PPC by just copying the file rather than creating a new trip in the Download Wizard. When I took the trip the other day, I found that the ETA that the unit called out when I was starting the trip was dead on and the directions came thru perfectly. If I just selected the destination and let the PPC calculate it, it was off by about 30%. .... wander why???????
I tried it on the trip home by using the desktop calculated trip vs. the PPC calculated one and the same thing.
[I posted this on the ETA topic as well.] |
