Hi
Hope you can help....bought TT3, Bluetooth GPS and IPAQ5550 several months back. Installed, got it working even managed to download a couple of updates to TT3 and the GPS. Everything was working fine.
Now....Not used it for a few weeks and now no matter whatever I try, nothing seems to work. TT3 fires up ok but for some reason the GPS doesn't work......the bluetooth starts (on IPAQ and GPS), the green light comes on the GPS unit momentarily and then nothing except flashing bluetooth light........ I've tried soft reset loads of times, I've checked GPS status on the IPAQ and the N & E's are stuck at Zero's but there are lines and numbers in the bootom part of screen (6-8 different numbers and bars and a date and clock ticking away in July) but for some reason all the screen says is "Route will be planned when GPS position is reliable". This was like that for recent 100 mile round trip......
If you recommend hard reset or anything else complicated, please explain as you're dealing with a newbie.
Thanks

Hi Gazza
On the GPS status tab in TT are you getting dots going across the screen and grey bars? If so, it seems to me that everything is in order except the GPS receiver hasn't got a fix of the satellites.
Is the GPS getting a clear view of the sky? If so, leave it on for up to 10 minutes. You'll know you have a fix 'cos it'll "bleep" at you. |

Thanks TB
Yep, on the GPS status tab the dots go across from a satellite dish to the PDA and the grey bars are there plus numbers in the compass thingy.
I left it for about an hour today and it didn't get a fix also tried it for about 2 hours last night.......still no joy.....
Thanks anyway

I had this problem too! it turned out to be a faulty GPS Unit.
Call TomTom support (The number is on a sticky post) and talk to them.
They will either get it going or replace it!.
Good luck,
Swaino. |
