Hi,

I am very new to all this - Got a Rikaline 6031 X7 and UK maps for my 4150, and I am impressed with the results.
But being a perfectionist, I like to optimise my kit and I realised that data was only getting to TT at a slow rate. I first noticed this getting onto highway exchanges at high speed (M3/M25), TT being lost as to which way I have gone for 4 to 5 secs. Looking at the logs from the driver, it seems that the GPS only sends 1 update per second. I first blamed a possible slow baud rate, but being excatly one second got me thinking that it was a setting in the driver. Anybody knows if this is changeable and if it is likely to help?

Thanks!

I think this is a "feature" of the gps unit you have.

update time in tomtom and baud rate are ok - its the chipset in the gps unit which maybe at faault - does this unit use the xtrac sirf chipset? If so you can expect some lag as these are optimised for picking up signals where other units won't - the extra calcs the gps undertakes causes a delay - fine when walking but a at 70mph!

This maybe total rubbish but i'm 90% sure this will be the problem - there maybe firmware updates for the gps to improve matters.

Good luck

Ian

It does seem to be the GPS that sends info every second, as connecting with HyperTerminal on my laptop provides the same result. Does anybody knows of this can be changed?

Anyway, I have bigger problems as my Rikaline 6031 X7 suddenly stoppped working completely, after less than a week of use!

Thanks for your help
