|
|
I'm trying to calibrate a Spanish map that uses UTM. I presume I can enter the numbers on the grid lines into the easting and northing but I'm confused about the zone. I can't find it anywhere on the map. I thought it was a number and a letter i.e. 10T but the program only allows you to enter a number, any ideas?. Also, any ideas where I can find the zone for a paritular area? |

I think I've figured it out with a bit of trial and error. You just put in the longitudinal part of the zone i.e. for 30T you would enter 30.
For zones:

The numbers on the grid lines are probably measured in kilometres - you will need to multiply by 1000 (add 3 zeros) to get the easting and northing (which is measured in metres)
After checking the points after calibration it seems to be a little off. The help files mention that 3 point calibration or above is only available in the registered version; does this apply to the trial version also (as far as I can tell the trial version seems to be the full version with a 1 hour time limit, where as the demo version has some features missing). I don't really want to have to spend £60 just on a tool to calibrate maps for the PPC version. |

More replying to myself, hopefully it will be useful for someone else just beginning... the problem with calibration seeming to be off was due to a different datum in the coordinate display. Click on it to change it to the one used in the calibration process.
Doing some tests I think the trial version can take more than 2 points into consideration for calibration. |

Hi Mark
Have just decided to give Ozi a try too, so keep talking to yourself as I'm listening with interest! _________________ Barry Davies
