I use CF for my extra memory and I'm happy, but like 'gacrane' says, you may want to use your slot for something else(maybe a wireless card etc..)

Hi,

The forums are loaded with advice on this topic and my own experience is that if you have a ipaq 2210, then CF is perhaps a more reliable choice. If you go the SD route, then get your cash out and buy a good 'un.

I ran a little test on two SD cards this afternoon (sad or what!) with a Tomtom 3 route plan from Land's End to John O'Groats and had the following times from start to map summary:-

Panasonic (Japan) 256mb SD - 56 seconds
Sandisk (China) 128mb SD - 5 minutes 17 seconds.

Not much difference there then! Not totally scientific but tends to illustrate the potential problems you may have with data access if you buy the wrong SD card for your application.

The Sandisk is not mine but I carried out this test to illustrate to a friend why he experiences lockups & freezes on his 2210 running TT3.

Steve

Like I say - if you read the forums, there are plenty of recommendations for good memory but I doubt that you will find too many for Chinese made SD cards, including Sandisk, for use with a 2210.

I have good results with what I use but there are others equally as good. Japanese manufactured items rarely disappoint, I think.

Nope - I just research the forums and draw my own conclusions. The experience of people collectively within the forum has served me well with the products I now use.

I have a PRETEC 512MB CF Card. It holds my map data, ebooks and MP3s. I have zero problems with it and so can happily recommend it (if that's any help). I figure being able to play MP3 means fast data access, but it does not say anything on the card.
It's P/N CFH512EHG.
On the Expansys they seem to do a 80X one which a brown cover, but mine is blue and does not say which speed.
