If you've bought or received any sort of gadget over the last 12 months then the chances are one or more of them use memory cards. From PDA's , all-in one GPS units and mobile phones to mp3 players and digital cameras they all use memory cards to store their data and the capacities of these cards are rising almost as qucikly as their prices fall.
Thanks to the generosity of the chaps over at MobyMemory who have supplied a number of memory cards covering the most popular formats, I will attempt to explain the different formats of cards, and bench test them comparing high speed cards against their normal speed variants.

Cards Tested
We tested 4 different types of card. Mainly SD and MMC with a couple of Mem-Stick cards as well. During the tests a number of these cards were used, but the ones we actually performed the speed and compatibility tests on are identified below.
