iGO Pirates Walk The Plank at CeBIT - Agents Seize Software

pocketgpsworld.comiGO My way software was the subject of action by German authorities at CeBIT today. Anti-Counterfeiting Agents from IPR Consulting obtained an order from the regional prosecutor after three exhibitors at the Hannover Trade Show were found to be displaying devices running unlicensed software belonging to the Hungarian company.

One Chinese company was operating a few metres away from NavNGo's stand and were even using the brand name iGO My Way. They now face legal action for the selling of pirated software and infringement of NNG (NavNGo's parent company) trademarks.

It is a sad fact that piracy is an ever growing problem for many companies. Where it exists in forums on hack/crack forums is one problem but when it spills over into business it is a much bigger issue. Two other companies were openly boasting of special prices for software claiming it was through a deal with NNG whereas it was in fact pirated, cracked software.

We have already seen devices being sold on eBay with pirated software and blatant abuse such as this needs to be stopped if companies are to protect their brand and their reputation.

IPR Consulting specialise in trademark protection service and they have experts who identify abuse and then use legal measures against those responsible.

There was that one and another. I'm not sure whether they are brazen or just plain stupid!
