Fugawi discontinue Fugawi PDA Edition

Date 31st July 2008

Fugawi are one of the original providers of Topographical Mapping solutions on PDAs. One of my first articles back in 2002 was a review of the FugawiCE software. Unfortunately all good things come to and end and tomorrow the Fugawi PDA edition will be removed from the Fugawi product line.

Support will continue via the normal channels until the end of the year.

All is not lost however if you have a library of Fugawi Mapping products you will still be able to use them on PathAway which has support for both Windows Mobile and Palm platforms. If you are not already a PathAway user then Fugawi are offering a 20% discount for customers wishing to cross-grade.

Of course if you are currently using the FugawiCE without any problems then the application will still continue to work without any issues.

REMINDER - Fugawi PDA Edition to be Discontinued

As of August 1, 2008 Fugawi PDA edition will no longer be included with Fugawi Global Navigator or Fugawi Marine ENC software. Customers who previously received Fugawi PDA edition as a free bonus with their Fugawi Global Navigator or Fugawi Marine ENC purchase may continue to use the PDA software, however no further update to the product will be issued and end-user customer support shall terminate on December 31, 2008.

Improved PathAway Support We are pleased to announce that we will continue to support our enhanced interface to the optional PathAway GPS Software for Windows Mobile (Fugawi Global Navigator and Fugawi Marine ENC only).

PathAway is the leading GPS Mapping software for PDA and Smart Phone and adds many features not present in Fugawi PDA Edition. PathAway currently supports Pocket PC 2002, 2003, Windows Mobile 5 and 6 (both Pocket PC and Smart Phone editions).

To help our customers transition to PathAway, we are offering a 20% discount on purchases of PathAway until August 31, 2008.

A real shame to see the demise of yet another PDA based application, there are a few newcomers entering the market, but it is sad to see an established product drop support for a certain platform - Mike
