TomTom GO 950 with Google Talk - 500 To Give Away
Another day, another new TomTom. Enter the GO 950 with Google Talk.
Building on the live services of the GO 940, the 950 (and presumably the 550 and 750 to follow later) adds 3G connectivity together with a mobile Google Talk client that allows voice communication via a data connection and Instant Message capabilities across AIM, MSN and Yahoo Messenger networks. There is also Google's Chrome 'web browser'.
Coming as it does a day after Skype appears on the iPhone it seems that mobile VoIP applications are the next 'big thing' and 3G data speeds makes a welcome addition. Chrome operates in a walled garden (presumably to limit data usage) but will allow you to browse many common websites such as the BBC, CNN, YouTUBE etc.
The 950 is only being launched in UK, Holland, Germany and France initially.
And for those of you rolling your eyes at the news of 'yet another' model range, TomTom are giving away 50 FREE 950's in each of the launch countries.
To enter complete the form here quoting code B050500100KS.

OK guys'n'gals time to fess up.
This is of course an April Fools Joke. A great many of you have taken it in the manner it was intended i.e. a simple gag, indeed TomTom contacted us this morning to say they thought it hilarious but they did ask us to remove the telephone number as their CS were being inundated with calls
To those of you caught out, we're sorry but it is April 1st.
For the two who left their sense of humour locked away today, perhaps its time you learnt to laugh a little, does us all good occasionally!

Brilliant! So glad I read that after mid-day - as someone who's only just bought a 940 LIVE, That would have suckered me totally :-)

it was obvious really, i mean, if it's only available in 4 country's and they are giving 50 away in each then that would be 200 to give away - not 500 as per the title!

I thought the ref number sort of gives it away as well:
50 = L
100 = C
Try swapping the numbers for the letters, but don't post the answer as it might offend! - Mike

Did you actually delete several posts from this thread, just because the posters weren't as amused by the story as you (and I) were? Surely that's taking censorship a bit far?
While this story was quite amusing, particularly for those of us who did Latin at school, the repeated redirection to YouTube, while trying to download the camera database, that I posted about, wasn't. You didn't tell us whether that was someone's idea of a joke, or whether the site had actually been hacked?
