Porsche offer retro styled satnav for older models
Article by: Darren Griffin Date: 27 Sep 2010
If you're the lucky owner of a classic Porsche and have until now resisted the urge to defile your car with a windscreen mounted satnav then here is the solution you have been waiting for.
Spotted by Motobullet, Porsche have announced a retro styled single DIN unit which is designed to look like the older twin knob type radios.
No technical specification is available other than that it will be available in TMC and non-TMC versions. But, given the small, screen, this will likely be a very simple system but it will be a popular addition for classic Porsche owners. Available October 2010 with prices starting at €595.

The older Ford cars had units like those. Just arrows for directions, no map shown

Yes, I think it was a Becker! Had one in an X Reg Ford Ka for a long term test
(120,000 miles +)
Did OK for most locations, but failed me in Holland once.

But is it a radio as well?
Kind of defeats the object if it isn't....
