The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) successfully launched the seventh and final satellite in the Indian Regional Navigation Satellite System (IRNSS) earlier today.

IRNSS-1G launched atop Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV) PSLV-C33 from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Andrha Pradesh, India. This satellite completes the space segment and will provide a regional navigation service to users in India.

The first satellite, IRNNSS-1A, launched in July 2013 with the remainder launching in the intervening three years. Perhaps those managing the much delayed and vastly over budget Galileo program could learn a few things about efficient launch schedules from the ISRO.

It's probably paid for with our overseas aid. Rolling Eyes

FYI.
I believe that the UK no longer gives any aid to India.

Might not be now, but from the Daily Express Dec 2015

1. INDIA

Last year - £279 million

Since 2009 - £1.95 billion

The largest recipient of British foreign aid, India has raked in almost £2 billion of taxpayers’ cash over the last five years despite being one of the fastest growing economies in the world.

The booming Asian powerhouse has its own space programme and has this week announced it will be spending £10 billion on a fleet of new bullet trains from Japan.

The £2 billion spent on aid projects in India between 2009-2014 is roughly equivalent to the amount of money the Government cut from policing budgets during the same period

Good old Daily Express. Looking at their recent front pages as I passed by, I thought they only dealt with medical matters!
What with the thousands of Doctors and nurses we have sucked out which they can ill afford to lose....
