Garmin adds new Commander model to MARQ Smartwatch range
Article by: Darren Griffin Date: 4 Oct 2019
Garmin's lineup of smartwatches, MARQ, designed to sit firmly in the premium segment, has a new addition, the MARQ Commander bring ing the range up to six styles.
MARQ Commander's aesthetic appears to target this at military users, a night vision goggle mode and phrases such as 'operator' and 'call of duty' reinforce that.
The watch itself is an impressive beast, with a black titanium shell, sapphire crystal lens, GPS, and the screen with a night vision mode so it can be read whilst wearing night vision goggles. Other standard MARQ features include performance data, altimeter, barometer and three-axis electronic compassing support for Spotify and other music services.
It also has a kill switch that turns off GPS, wireless and erases location data. It's impressive watch but it's difficult to see a soldier choosing a £1,700 watch that requires regular charging as his or her goto watch when deployed in theatre.
