Addison Lee selects CoPilot for Taxi Fleet

Article by: Mike Barrett

pocketgpsworld.comCoPilot has secured the navigation component for Addison Lee's job management and guidance systems. The in-car tech is based around the CoPilot Live software and the Motorola MC55 hardware which is capable of receiving pickup and destination locations from central dispatch. CoPilot Live then guides the driver to the pickup point and then on to the client's destination.

As the vehicle is arriving at the pickup point Addison Lee's system is able to send a text message to the client identifying the car's details and location. This technology is helping streamline operations and assist Addison Lee in achieving a pickup target of 10 minutes in Central London and 20 minutes within the M25.

Addison Lee upgrades to CoPilot Live Professional Navigation

Europe’s largest private hire taxi service is using CoPilot Live Professional satellite navigation to improve customer service levels and increase efficiency.

London, 7th of December - ALK Technologies today announced that Addison Lee, Europe’s largest private hire taxi fleet, has upgraded its in-car job management and guidance system with fully integrated CoPilot Live Professional navigation software running on the Motorola MC55 Enterprise Digital Assistant.

Placing the highest priority on customer service and addressing the needs of an expanding fleet of over 2,500 vehicles, Addison Lee worked with technology partner, Cognito to upgrade their existing system, seamlessly integrating CoPilot Live satellite navigation within a fully-automated driver tracking and dynamic job allocation service.

Addison Lee drivers receive job details remotely on their Motorola MC55. Destination details are automatically communicated to CoPilot Live which calculates the most efficient route and guides drivers to the door with turn-by-turn voice instructions and clear 3D maps.

Upon arrival at a customer pickup, the system sends location and vehicle identity details automatically to the customer’s mobile phone via SMS using the GPS location, making it easy for customers to find their taxi. Following pickup, the system then continues to guide the driver directly to the required destination.

By automating navigation and location reporting, CoPilot Live is helping Addison Lee maintain a 10 minute pick up window in Central London and 20 minutes within the M25. It is also enabling the company’s owner-drivers to improve earnings through more efficient routing that allows them to make an average of two additional pickups per week.

Christopher Quin, Enterprise Business Manager, Northern Europe, ALK Technologies said “We are very proud that CoPilot Live Professional has been selected as navigation provider by Addison Lee, a company widely respected as a technology innovator. This project is a further demonstration of how integrated navigation can help fleets achieve significant competitive advantage through greater efficiency and improved customer service”

Graeme Miles, Service Director at Cognito added “more and more of our customers are realising the potential for best-in-class Satellite Navigation to help increase efficiency and deliver market-leading service. As demonstrated by Addison Lee, key to success is the ease with which CoPilot is embedded into their mobile workforce management system, enabling a seamless transition between job workflow and optimised routing.”
