I have an iPaq 2215 with CoPilot Live Pocket PC 5 and Copilot bluetooth GPS.
I travel 5+ days per week for work, and get a different rental car every week in a different city.
On weekends, I go boating on the Great Lakes. For that, I use the same hardware and switch software to Outdoor Navigator.
I need recommendations for a good durable mount that can be used to hold and power the PDA, power the GPS, and be easy to move from vehicle to vehicle. Do any mounts also hold the GPS, or just provide a power cable?
Is windshield mount or vent mount better for frequent moves?
Any mounts good for both car and boat, or should I focus on the cars only?
Oh yeah, it should be small and easy to fit in a briefcase to carry on the plane too!
Please help!

I would recommend a suction cup mount. It's easier to install and remove - vents are too different between cars, and the PDA tends to be too low in your viewing path.
As a holder you can use either Brodit or Seidio - active mounts that can also provide power to the BT receiver. But most receivers should hold the charge for a whole working day, and powering them through the holder may not be necessary.
The holder is relatively low profile. The suction cup is probably the least briefcase friendly item. But you should still be able to fit it in. _________________ Lutz

I sent Seidio, Brodit and Arkon sales the same inquiry, and asked for recommended solutions.
Brodit does not make a generic vehicle mount - everything is vehicle model specific. (See below for response from Brodit Sales).
Arkon responded, but recommended a solution with a GPS built into the mount - which I don't need. (Arkon response is below also).
I've read some bad things about Seidio - defective hardware and poor service. Seidio sales are the only ones that didn't respond.
Still looking for specific recommendations...
Is is possible to pick one company's PDA mount and another's vehicle mount?

Hello,
Unfortunately, we our vehicle mounts are custom made for each model car. We don't have a universal
type of holder.

You could take a look at RAM mounts, I am not sure if they do powered mounts though. You can mix and match different parts for different mounting needs.
