no signal on gps

hiya...i have a spv m3100 and i have a holox bt-321 i can seem to get the tomtom software to recieve a signal. the recievers battery is low and i havent got a charger for it yet. could this be the reason it isnt recioeving a signal. i have also attempted to gain a signal whilst the reciever was slightly charged. the currentl lights activities are the following

blue and green light still and the middle orange light flickering. however i have also tried it wiles the blue and green light were flashing and not still (when the battery was charged)

I have also tried to gain a signal out doors

Put the device outside and for a first fix you need to leave it for anything up to 20 mins, make sure it is well away from buildings. Receivers generally don't work very well inside a building - Mike
