|
|
With a huge market and strong demand it has always seemed odd that TomTom didn't have a solution that catered to caravan and motorhome users. Most consumer satnavs are unsuitable for large motorhomes and caravans as they take no account of road widths, bridge heights, weight limits etc.
But that's about to change. TomTom's GO LIVE Camper & Caravan product has made an appearance on their web site and is listed as 'coming soon'.
Based on the GO LIVE 1005, with a large 5" screen, this new product supports profiles for different vehicles and allows you to set size, weight and speed limits and have appropriate routes calculated.
Being a camping specific model it will come preloaded with POIs for camping areas, chemical tolet discharge facilities, service agents etc plus all the usual LIVE services including HD Traffic and Google.

And hopefully by the time it hits the market, one of the 'features', that of mapshares downloaded daily will actually work. It does not on any Nav 10.X+ devices as of now ........ _________________ David |

Should we worry that in the pic they are going to a French campsite but seem to be driving on the left?
£350 seems a bit steep....
The hardware is exactly the same as the Go1005/1015 World which is £50 cheaper, and all they have done is use existing software from the "Truck" models and add a few POIs. _________________ "Settling in nicely" ;-) |

Not driving on the left - it's just driving round the plonker with the camera stood in the middle of the road.. _________________ esim

I hope it isn't just the truck software with extra poi because the truck version isn't suitable either. Motorhomes fall between the two. They are not subject to all the limitations of trucks but cannot use all the roads that a car can.
Even though it is set to fastest route rather than shortest tomtom still insists on taking that shortcut down a dirt track to shorten the route. (car version).
Avoid Unpaved roads doesn't seem to work. |
