|
|
Why is the $64,000 question but those avid iPhone owners who eagerly downloaded and updated to iOS4 yesterday will have quickly discovered that TomToms app is not iOS4 ready. So no multitasking but worse still, it doesn't work at all under iOS4.
Quite why TomTom have been so tardy in getting an update to fix compatibility we can only speculate about. iOS4 has been seeded to developers through various betas for some months now, precisely to avoid issues such as this.
Whereas many other navigation apps are working fine under iOS4, albeit without the much vaunted multitasking features, to have an app that does not function and crashes when a route is calculated is very poor indeed.
"will be submitted to Apple for review after the 21 June release of iOS 4."
So for those of you who need access to TomTom on your iPhone the advise id to hold off updating if you haven't done so already. For those of you that have updated already, TomTom have promised an update with full iOS4 support "will be submitted to Apple for review after the 21 June release of iOS 4." _________________ Darren Griffin

This is beyond frustrating. I have no idea why they haven't introduced a bug fix prior to iOS4 release. iOS4 GM (the final iOS4 version) was out for devs three weeks before the actual launch so they should have had all the time in the world to fix the crash bug. Only thing they've done so far is give interviews about how they will support multitasking. Honestly, fix the crashing first and then start thinking about multitasking. At the moment TomTom on iPhone iOS4 is useless software. |

TomTom app for iPhone compatibility
iOS4 compatibility
Our current version 1.3 of the app for iPhone is not compatible with iOS4. We are already working on an update. If you are a current user of the TomTom app for iPhone, a free update will be available soon via iTunes. |
Lets see how soon "TomTom's soon" is. Judging from the past, I'm afraid "their soon" might be affected by their local weed... |

Mine still works tho you have to restart it everytime you change something so at least for now it will get in from A to B until an update comes. |

Can you plan a route? On my test iPhone it crashes as soon as the route calculation is almost completed. _________________ Darren Griffin |

The iOS4 update for the TomTom app has just been released, I'm downloading it now. In the description it said it has support for background instructions, adding route departure dates and times to the calendar, emailing route descriptions, "eco routes" and an updated map.
edit: It also lets you change the car icon on the map now. |

Give it an hour or so for the update to permeate through to the update notification servers. _________________ Darren Griffin |

Third time lucky.
By the way, does this and the CamerAlert update allow both to be used together? That would be nice. |

Just re-enter the same username and password you used to use prior to the update on the device with the app running - Mike |
