|
|
I just realised (or re-discovered) that a "Return to Factory Settings" (from the Preferences menu) only resets settings for the map you have currently selected, the settings for any other installed maps (favourites, POI warnings etc.) are left alone.
Made me want to work out exactly what does and doesn't get reset.
So far this is my list, any additions or corrections?
A "Return to Factory Settings" forgets or resets:
Language
Left/Right Handedness
Miles/Km
Clock format
Asks for correct time but seems to remember it.
Voice
Map selected
Map Colour scheme (cannot select a custom scheme the first time!)
MapShare joining
Status Bar preferences
Volume Preferences
Street Name Preferences
Keyboard Preferences
Planning Preferences
Music Preferences
Battery saving preferences (this is where "shutdown on loss of power" is)
Hide tips setting
User name and password for the Plus services
Car symbol
Quick menu preferences.
It also forgets for the current map:
Home Location
Recent Destinations
POI Warnings
Itineraries
Map Share corrections
Favourites
It seems to remember:
Safety Preferences
User POI's themselves (the files are not deleted. In fact it comes back with them ALL selected to show on map)
Brightness Preferences
Speaker Preferences
Start up and shutdown screens
Any settings for other maps installed but not currently selected (favourites, POI warnings etc.)
Now a few of these I might have got wrong because my preferences were already the same as the default ones.
What do you think?

What do I think?
Excellent job and I've bookmarked the thread link.
btw, the entry about remembering time ..... I hadn't noticed but a member of a NA forum tells me that, with firmware 8.3, the time automatically gets adjusted to the tt's current location as determined by the gps satellites. I haven't pursued it but that would be different from earlier firmwares, as I remember. _________________ David |

Thanks! But I really meant "What have I forgotten?"
There's bound to be something I've not checked yet.. how about phone or BT audio pairing? Address books? Things I don't use.... |
