I have downloaded the UKPostcode files and put the .exe and .dat files in the same "ukpostcode" folder on the SD card exactly as instructed. However, when I try to use the system, I get a message "Installation error - ukpostcode.dat not found in .exe folder". This is then (inevitably) followed by "no matching postcode in database". Can anyone please tell me where I have gone wrong? Thanks for any advice! |

How are you launching the app? If you browse to the PostCode folder and manually click the .exe does it start? If Yes, then the shortcut you craeted is the problem, you may have copied the .exe instead of creating a shortcut to it. _________________ Darren Griffin |

Darren
Many thanks for your incredibly rapid response to my query. However, I should have given more background - sorry! I can get the opening screen and enter a postcode OK. It is when I tap on "Show on map" or "Navigate to" that I get the error messages. |

Thanks for the help and advice, but I still cannot get this program to work and I am beginning to suspect the basic installation, notwithstanding the error messages it is giving me.
The zip file contains 2 files, setup.exe and TTNcontrol.ini, which never get near the PPC, based on the instructions I have printed out. Is this correct?

Did you remember to install the Tom Tom control file? see below:
Step Three
Note that if you've already got CheckPOInt installed you don't need to complete this step. CheckPOInt will already have installed the necessary TTN support files. Simply carry on from step four.
Use Windows Explorer to copy the 'TTNControl.arm.cab' file to the 'My Documents' folder on your PPC. Then, using File Explorer on the PPC, locate this .cab file and double tap to install it. The .cab file will self delete following installation. |

Thanks Howardr - Yes, I did exactly as instructed. Have tried reinstalling the .cab file, but get a message confirming that it is already installed OK. Have also verified the shortcut is OK. Both the ukpostcode files are in the same folder on the SD card. If I run the program from this .exe file in file explorer, I get the opening screen OK, enter the postcode, but get the error messages when I tap "Show on map" or "Navigate to". Why??? Am stuck! And what happens to the setup.exe file? |

Darren - I'm using TTN 3.03. I have since deleted both files from the SD card and pasted in freshly unzipped copies. Even if I run the program directly from the SD card using File Explorer, I get the same error messages when I enter a valid postcode and then tap "Show on map" or "Navigate to"! Yet both the .exe and .dat files are there in the same folder. Can there be a problem with the SD card itself (Kingston 256MB)? Has anyone else had this problem? Can't find any similar complaints on this forum. |
