Hi Buckman,
It’s the latest version of the PocketGPSWorld camera database, which you can see here.
It looks like Richard (Oldie) has done a lot of work in splitting/grouping the cameras into known speed limits. Well done Richard!

Just downloaded the updated database. There a several folders each containing several files in them. Which files do i need to copy on to the SD card? And do i delete the previous files first? |

Also where do we put the Wav files 20, 30,40 mph files, and how do we select them. _________________ Using an A to Z

Great stuff
One slight issue the filenames are getting a bit long.
I've thought up a nice way not to split the files up and have suggested the following to TomTom :-
It would be nice if when warn near POI's is set you could display some text when the icon flashed up. i.e print the text to the right of the @ to the right of the flashing icon.
-4.87511 , 50.41278 , "GATSO:1973@60"
-2.13296 , 51.67149 , "Andy Smith@22"
Great for when getting near a speed camera or when near a house number.

Can TomTom GO use custom sound files? I would imagine that the WAV files are for applications like CheckPOInt, GPSAssist, and POIWarner, etc.
As the PocketGPSWorld camera database is for many different SatNav packages I’ve moved this thread to a more appropriate area of the forum.

WAV files can't be used on TTGO, only apps that support WAV files. |

Looking at the ZIP file… it seems as if TTG users should delete all the *.wav and *.txt files.
However, I'm not sure if there is anything else we need to remove, or as before do we just copy the OV2 and BMP files to the SD Card into the Great Britain Directory and enable them in the POI screen….. |

Yes, could we have a step by step way of installing this please?
And do we delete the other Speed camera databases so our GO's are clear before we input this one??
(ive only just installed the Dec update so do i delete it or leave??)

If you check the databases in POIEdit you'll see that the new gatso and mobile speed defined databases are the same as the standard databases. So if you install both the original gasto and mobile ov2 files and the new speed zoned versions then you will have duplicated all the gatso and mobile cameras. Therefore use one version or the other, but not both.
I just copied all the bmp and ov2 files from the speed zoned directory into the map directory on my sd card.
I ignored the two entries pocketgps_uk_gatso.ov2 and pocketgps_uk_mobile.ov2 (as I am using the speed zoned version)
The redlight, temp and specs cameras which aren't speed related were copied across as normal
The sound files went into the Checkpoint program directory.
Then I activated them in Checkpoint and added the sound files I liked.
Then I selected them in Tom Tom and that was that
I'm pretty sure I'm correct about not using both the original and speed zoned version but maybe wait for someone brighter than me to confirm? |

If you look in the readme.txt file that is in the pocketgps_uk_sc.zip file it does state, in the paragraph that refers to the new speed related files, that
"These files can be used instead of the baseline distribution"
By baseline I mean those files that you have been used to using. So the choice is yours.

Sorry, not had time to browse through the files properly, but have now scanned the readme file.
I appreciate that PocketGPS provide this database free of charge (and I for one am very grateful!) but there are some people who simply are not as technical or as familiar with PC's as others, and I get the impression there are some frustrated newbies about.
TTG also works in a slightly different was to TT3, so perhaps a list of files or basic, step-by-step instructions would help people...? |
