Hi! We see you’re using an ad-blocker. We’re fine with that and won’t stop you visiting the site.
But as we’re losing ad-revenue from this then why not make a donation towards website running costs?. Or you could disable your ad-blocker for this site. We think you’ll find our adverts are not overbearing!
An invalid session can be caused by several things.
1) You either have security software running on your PC like Norton Internet Security or a firewall like Zone Alarm and have your security settings set too high. In some applications you can allow a website to be excluded from the security settings or to overwride these, you may need to do this. If you have Zone Alarm go into the Privacy tab and you may need to turn off Cookie Control, Ad Blocking and Mobile Code Control as these options can sometimes cause problems with forum software, especially phpBB which is what we use.
2) Your Internet Explorer or Web Browser Security settings may be too high for the website, try dropping the security or add an exclusion in for PocketGPSWorld.com and any other websites you experience problems with.
3) The AOL Web Browser has been known to have problems with forum software, especially phpBB, try using Internet Explorer to resolve this problem.
4) If all else fails and you are sure that security settings in one or more applications are not restricting you, and you were able ot post a message before, then you may have a corrupted cookie. If you are using Internet Explorer 6+, open it and goto TOOLS | INTERNET OPTIONS under TEMPORARY INTERNET FILES click VIEW FILES this will pop up another Explorer style window. ALT + TAB to go back to Internet Explorer (leaving this open and click CANCEL twice in Internet Explorer, close all Internet Explorer windows. Now go back to the window that just opened that says TEMPORARY INTERNET FILES click the NAME column to sort by name, and scroll down until you find a file called
Cookie:[your_forum_name]@pocketgpsworld.com
Cookie:[your_forum_name]@pocketgpsworld.com
Delete both of these cookies, close the window and then re-open Internet Explorer. Goto http://www.pocketgpsworld.com and you will need to re-login, if it was a corrupted cookie, this will resolve the invalid session problem.

I've had Invalid_session for the first time today ever - without changing anything on my system. I do have ZoneAlarm Pro installed, but with all the web functions completely disabled as I find they cause problems.
I've also had problems with the site getting slower and slower as my session progresses - though that seems possibly to be related to ntl:'s web proxies, as, I suppose the session cookie problems may have been. Unfortunately I can't avoid a proxy as ntl: force me to use a transparent web proxy if I don't set an explicit one. I rejoiced when, for a few weeks, ntl: had failed to include the IP range of my address in the transparent proxying, but unfortunately the enforced proxying came back. I wouldn't object, but ntl: Luton's proxies seem particularly unreliable.
Unfortunately if I change proxy mid-session, I also lose my session cookie - which is the only way to keep my "View posts since last visit" sane.
It'd be a great help if there was the facility to show all posts after a certain time and date. It'd also help (he says, veering off-topic), if forum windows had a more sensible topic than each one being titled "Pocket GPS World" - the name of the thread would be much better IMHO.
