On the GPS (Status) Screen are two slider bars. One controls sound output, the other, marked ZZZ implies some form of 'sleep-mode', presumably to reduce power consumption.
Can somebody please explain the functioning of the ZZZ slider, and whether its effect is on the GPS receiver, the PPC or indeed both.
This may be more relevant for out-of-car use with say EMTAC or Navman Jackets.
Thanks

It is actually the oposite of what you suspect. If you slide it all the way to the right, it stops the PPC turning off, so that on battery power you don't sudenly loose navigation just when you need it. Slide it to the left, and the PPC obeys whatever you've set in the normal power options. It has no direct effect on the reciever, which depending on the type you have may be independantly powered anyway.
I doubt many would concider useing a PPC in car without a charger lead. _________________ If you choose not to decide, you still have made a choice. |

Thanks Mark, that's most enlightening. It helps to understand the logic behind the features.
That now of course begs the question concerning the logic behind the sound-slider.

No probs. The sound slider overides the PPC settings, so even if you have the PPC muted, you will still hear voice commands.
