Hi,
Does anyone know if it is possible to convert the NMEA data stream to Garmin format on a PPC? It would be great to run the Garmin que software on my Mio 168 as I have used Garmin for years and have lots of maps...
Thanks,
Oliver. |

Thanks for the reply - the cf Que 1620 (CF GPS), the iQue M5 (new PPC version of the iQue 3600), and the GPS 10 (BT GPS) use a Pocket PC version of the que software but apparently the que software will only take Garmin protocol input and is not configurable to take NMEA via a com port?
Maybe someone will write an app to convert NMEA to Garmin format, if its even possible?, so we can use both

Actually this could be getting interesting...
The Garmin GPS 10 specification states that it outputs NMEA sentances and comes with Que™ software for Pocket PCs so this may be what we are looking for?
"Interfaces: Connects to Pocket PC or personal computer with Bluetooth wireless technology; Protocol: NMEA 0183, sentences GGA/GSA/GSV/GLL/RMC/VTG"
http://www.garmin.com/products/gps10/spec.html
Does this mean that the GPS 10 version of the Que™ software would work on my Mio 168?
If that doesn't work could i buy another PPC with BT, hook up a Garmin GPS 10 and use Memory Map, Ozi, and Garmin que. It could even be a PPC Phone edition
All this in the quest to be able to do everything on one toy!
